Deputy Principal - Secondary - 5 MU's

Hurunui College is seeking a highly motivated and experienced school leader to join our dynamic school community. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in improving student outcomes and fostering a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist and work closely with the Principal and Deputy Principal - Primary, in the overall management and leadership of the school
    Supervise and evaluate the work of teachers and other staff members
  • Develop and implement programmes in conjunction with the Principal, Leadership Team and teaching staff, which reflect effective teaching and learning and result in improved student achievement and a positive school culture
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to ensure the best possible learning outcomes for students
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively
  • Participate in and lead professional development in line with the school’s strategic direction and professional development priorities
  • Lead pastoral team and provide leadership and support for managing student behaviour and the school's processes and systems

Requirements:
  • Strong leadership and management skills and an understanding of current approaches for effective leadership
  • Proven experience in curriculum development, change management and leading professional development
  • A commitment to School wide PB4L, restorative practices and managing positive relationships
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • An in-depth understanding of current approaches to effective teaching and learning
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth 
  • A current New Zealand teacher registration and practising certificate

Hurunui College is a year 1 - 13 Area School and offers a positive work life balance and a supportive working environment in the rural township of Hawarden, 50 minutes north of Christchurch in North Canterbury.
