Hurunui College is seeking applications for the position of caretaker/groundsperson. The role of caretaker is a varied role and has many areas of responsibility, it could potentially be full time for the right person, or part time/job share for 2 or more people. General Responsibilities include:
Daily maintenance of the school and grounds
Tidying garden areas and open spaces
Mowing lawns
Trimming shrubs
Maintaining high level of cleanliness around the school
Day to day maintenance
Minor Repairs - ie. replacing light bulbs and patching holes
Cleaning gutters and buildings
Cleaning within school buildings
Setting up and breaking down equipment for event days
Opening and monitoring swimming pool in swim season
Moving furniture and equipment as needed
Any other tasks as directed by management.
We require someone who can prioritise when multiple requests come in, keep calm on hectic days and is willing to go the extra mile to help the school run as smoothly as possible at all times. A start date, hours of work and starting salary will be negotiated between the successful applicant and the school in accordance with the Caretakers and Cleaners Collective agreement. Part time 0.6 fixed term, primary release/ORS position.
We are seeking a motivated, flexible and dedicated New Zealand registered teacher to join our team to work initially in the primary area of the school and with the capacity to also support an ORS funded student. The position will be fixed term through to the end of the 2023 school year with possible opportunities to extend some aspects of the employment into 2024. This is a great opportunity for a teacher to further themselves in the teaching profession within an adaptable position. We will work alongside the successful applicant to refine the exact hours, days of work and starting date.

Hurunui College is looking to appoint one or more relief cleaners to cover cleaning shifts in times of illness or absence.
Cleaning shifts take place between 3pm- 5.30pm Monday to Friday, there may be some hours available in holiday periods if wanted. Relief cleaners need to be reliable and available, often on short notice. Training will be provided. A job description is attached below.
